Late 2021, I had a dream I started my own medical billing company and developed software to help streamlined our process. I did medical billing in the early twenties with no healthcare related certificate/degree and I excelled all it. I’ve since ventured outside of the healthcare industry; however, it’s been a desire of mines in recent years to get back into healthcare, specifically medical coding. One of my goals for this year is to take the AAPC or AHIMA exam later in the year to become a certified medical coder.
Additionally, in May I started the Google UX Design Certificate program and I’m already one assignment completion away from course 3 of 7. I aim to finish all 7 of the courses by mid-July. Google's UX design learning course has been a better learning experience than self-studying medical coding. Some adjustments will need to be made or I may decide to enroll in a online medical coding course so I can better prepare for the exam I plan to take towards the end of the year. The exam is too costly to have to keep retaking it.
I don’t know if I’ll ever start a medical billing company or develop software related to healthcare, however, I do believe I’ll able to put these new skill gained and all the things I’ll learn this year to use in the years to come.
